The Kao-Ping Hsi Bridge, which was ordered by the Taiwan Area National ExpresswayrnEngineering Bureau and consulted by China Engineering Consultants, Inc., was constructed by fourrncompanies; two Japanese (Taisei Corporation and Kawada Industries, Inc.) and two Taiwanesern(Pan-Asia Corporation and Raito Engineering Corp.), and completed in December 1999. This rivercrossingrnbridge, spanning a total of 2,617m, includes a 510m composite cable-stayed bridge. Thisrnerection report shows a “Hanging Transport Erection Method”, which was newly developed andrnused for Cable-stayed bridge main span’s steel deck block erection work.rnThis erection method is one of cantilever erection methods, the steel block which was assembled onrnthe ground near the main tower was transported to the erection point hanged by Hanging Carrierrn(HC) and was erected by Lifting Traveler (LT). HC can move along the bridge axis hanging tornalready-erected steel girder, so we can erect steel block without the influence of mid-span’s groundrncondition.
