Despite improvements in design and test techniques, icing related accidents, incidents and operating problems continue to occur regularly in service. Current methods of analysis to predict ice accretions and their effect on aircraft handling and performance have limitations, even within the existing design envelope. There are also significant limitations with all methods of simulating in-flight icing.
