A Raman-scattering investigation of the duble-layer manganites, La_(2-2x)Sr_(1+2x)Mn_2O_7 (x chemical bounds 0.4, 0.5), revealed signatures of a) charge stripe formation and melting,b ) small polaron formation, and c) anisotropic quasiparticle dynamics in the ferromagnetic-metallic state. These observations and t heir implications are discussed in this work.
