摘要

Removal of unwanted hair is one of the most promising new frontiers in cutaneous laser surgery. Unfortunately, many patients are likely to be disappointed by the current state of the art, largely because the public's expectations of the procedure are inflated. Only a minority of patients will experience permanent cessation of hair growth after just one session. Partial hair regrowth typically occurs within three to six months, requiring multiple re-treatments over a several months. When compared to waxing or electrolysis, however, laser hair removal is clearly superior, even when it fails to live up to the hype and expectations that surround it.
