The Advanced-Concepts laboratory (ACL) is an adaptive-optics and tracking designed to simulate Airborne Laser propagation scenarios. Selected propagation scenarios are implemneted by distributing phase screens at predetermined positions along a scaled. 10-28-m beam path and rotating each screen with appropriate speed and direction. Specific scenarios can be re-run by repositioning the screens at their initial positins and repeating the sequence. The high degree of reproducibility permits detailed comparison of various algorithms. Excellent agreement is obtained with results from wave-optics simulations.
