Within 5 years, the global market for nanoelectronic and nanomagnetic products will number in the tens of billions of dollars, according to two recent BCC studies, GB-286 Nanomaterials in Nanoelectronics, published January, 2004, and GB-293 Nanomagnetics: Materials, Technology and Markets, to be published later this year.rnIt's impossible to comprehensively cover the technology, applications and market opportunities for nanoelectronic and nanomagnetic products in a brief paper such as this. The goal here, instead, is to provide an overview of each area, based on the findings of the aforementioned BCC reports. The first part of this paper defines nanoelectronics and addresses the need for nanomaterials in emerging and futuristic nanoelectronics devices, followed by a look at who's who in the field and a market forecast summary for nanoelectronic devices. The second part focuses on nanomagnetic materials and devices, with a summary of applications, players, and global markets through 2009.
