摘要

Aspects of feeder design with specific reference to hopper and feeder interfacing are reviewed. The adverse consequences of bad interfacing is illustrated by means of a case study example involving chain conveyor feeders in a coal handling plant. The objectives of optimum feeder interfacing are outlined. An overview of feeder design and performance with specific reference to belt and apron feeders is presented. Relevant aspects of feeder load and drive power determination is reviewed and the need for controlling feeder loads is stressed. The influence of the hopper and feeder interface with respect to the shear resistance and feeder slip is outlined.
