Development and Validation of a Modern CMOS Digital Sun Sensor at UniNa

摘要

This paper deals with design, prototype development, and calibration tests of a low-cost CMOS-based miniature digital sun sensor, which have been carried out at the university of Naples. They include also design and development of a laboratory test facility for indoor validation of the sun sensor hardware model. Calibration of the developed hardware prototype has been carried out adopting various neural-network-based solutions. A satisfactory accuracy of 0.01° has been achieved and a substantial improvement is expected after the introduction of hardware upgrades currently under refinement.
