The CryoSat-2 spacecraft is one of the Opportunityrnmissions of the ESA Earth Explorer Programme,rnoperated by the European Space Operations Centrern(ESOC), in Darmstadt. The Mission objective is tornprovide global continuous measurements of the icerncover variations on the polar caps and continental icernsheets using its multi-mode interferometer radar,rnSIRAL. In April 2013, CryoSat-2 (CS-2) will havernachieved three years of operations.rnThe paper initially provides an overview of the CS-2rnGround Segment and the implemented operationalrnconcept. This is followed by an overview of thernmission and in-flight operational status of the Satelliternfrom the post launch corrective actions through tornroutine and special operations. As conclusions, the needrnfor stable operations to preserve data quality isrnhighlighted and how the evolution of the currentrnoperational concepts allows the CryoSat-2 mission tornfully support the user needs.
