SpaceWire offers a great opportunity to improve quality and reduce the cost of developingrnand building spacecraft. This paper describes these opportunities and shows how designrnand test techniques can be used to ensure that the quality benefits of SpaceWire are fullyrnexploited. Particular benefits follow from SpaceWire's qualities for the creation of buildingrnblocks, and from a building-block approach to test equipment for SpaceWire.
