Mechanical composting toilet by using sawdust as a matrix had been performed for 50 days. Bioreactor in the mechanical composting toilet contained the mixing and heating device to promote composting reaction of feces and urine (toilet waste). Furthermore ventilation system was also equipped with the bioreactor that induces airflow from the toilet seat to outside. Daily amount of human feces (150g/day) and urine (1000ml/day) per person was fed to the sawdust matrix. Mass balance of water, carbon and nitrogen was obtained in the operation. Power consumption in two points (heating device only and total system) has also been monitored. The operation was continued without replacement of the sawdust matrix during the operation for 50days. During the operation, 54kg of input water mainly from urine was removed from the matrix because of water evaporation rate accelerated by heating. Accumulation rate of carbon and nitrogen in the matrix were obtained by 8.75g-C/day and 1.82g-N/day respectively. Approximately 55% of carbon and 25% of nitrogen in input remained in the matrix for 50days operation.
