From the end of this year, the UK rail industry will have to comply with the requirements of the Disability Discrimination Act. Regulations will set detailed technical specifications for wheelchair access and for a range of other design and operational requirements which will apply to all new rolling stock.rnCompliance with the new regulations is proving challenging for some companies with new rolling stock already in build and for all issues such as potential seating loss need to be addressed.rnThe paper examines in detail what the legislation will mean for the industry.
