This paper contains a brief description of the basic principles of gas chromatography with emphasis in process on-line applications. It was prepared as part of the teaching material for a tutorial on gas chromatography for presentation at the ISA Edmonton '91 Spring Symposium. The tutorial session is . ' designed for those who have had some exposure to gas chromatography but limited experience in on-line applications. Numerous process applications will be presented at the training session.
