Micro Turning System 3 (MTS3) is a micro precision lathe that has a machine base size of 300 x 200 mm (A4 paper size) and PC (personal computer) based CNC (computerized numerical control) with linear/circular interpolation. The machine was developed to be a substitute of conventional precision lathes that were too big compared to the size of the parts to be machined. MTS3 is capable of machining stainless steel (304) with a surface roughness of 60 nm (Ra) and a circularity of 50 nm (P-V). Figure 1 shows the picture of MTS3.
