Most components are subjected to variable load amplitudes. Many of them are exposed up to 10~8 or even more load cycles during their utilization. Failures occur, when the applied maximum stress value of the cumulative frequency distribution is just above the fatigue limit. Lifetime predictions in the high cycle regime are still inadequate. A main reason for the inadequacy is the insufficient knowledge about the damaging mechanisms and the lack of simulation models to describe the occurring failure. None of the Miner-Rule Modifications mainly used in lifetime prediction is capable to describe all test results. A new concept for the lifetime prediction for variable amplitudes in the high cycle regime is introduced. The concept uses an proposal by Hueck for an additional Parameter C for a Miner Modification to modify the shape of the predicted fatigue lifetime curve. Based on a small number of variable amplitude tests at high stress amplitudes a prediction for high cycle regime can be made using the Parameter C-Concept.
