This paper disscusses a comprehensive study on scratchingrnadditional oil in the matured fields of Pertamina SouthrnSumatra, Indonesia, by employing an integrated multidisciplernsynergy team and project management approaches. The teamsrnconsist of geophysicists, geologists, reservoir engineers,rnoperation/production and facility engineers, and ones fromrnsupporting department such as finance, logistics, HSE, HRD,rnIT, etc. The project called Production Enhancement Projectsrn(PEP) was established in 2001 and divided into phases.rnThe first phase of PEP that was assessing detailedrnsubsurface and surface facilities data has been donernsuccessfully resulting in 45.6 MMBO of additional oilrnreserves within 12 selected existing matured fields. Besides,rnthe upside potentials are identified as a surprising result of thernstudy1). An extra investment was spent in developingrnappropriate plan and rejuvenating production infrastructures.rnHowever, a significant gain production was obtained throughrnseveral successful twin drilling wells, outsteping, deepening,rnand workovers.rnPlan of further development for each field has beenrnproposed including the evaluation of economics andrnenvironment aspects by considering in-depth GGRPrn(geophysic-geology-reservor-production) study and intensiverndiscussion among team leaders, team members, andrnmanagement. After prioritizing the proposed work plan,rnseveral implementations of well work (such as: reopening; reperforating;rnreparation; sidetracking, twin drilling; etc.)rnshowed some successful results. In year 2002 two wells wererndrilled and resulted additional oil reserves up to 100 MMBOrnthat proved the upside potentials of oil located in deep zonesrnof the existing fields.
