The first utility scale wind-hydrogen system is planned for the Wintec windrnfarm in north Palm Springs, CA. The wind farm uses Nordtank 65kW turbines, three ofrnwhich are set aside for connection to a Stuart CFA-1350 fueler, which is expected torngenerate up to 3 kg hydrogen per hour at peak wind. These three turbines togetherrngenerate 540,000 kw-hr/yr electricity, sufficient to run a fuel cell bus about 90,000 milesrnper year. Hydrogen will be generated and compressed to as high as 6000 psi and storedrnon site in mobile trailers which can be moved to the SunLine fueling location to fuel thernvehicles.rnThe site plan has been approved by the Palm Springs Planning Commission, constructionrnawaits city building permits.
