Positive end cap protection is required for Post Tensioned bridges exposed to harsh marine environments to attain 100 year service life. A method for reducing chlorides laden moisture in marine environments by entering through vulnerable expansion joint sections of these post tensioned duct grouted bridges is presented. This approach also provides a means to prevent carbonation of the internal duct grout by providing a means to shut off both moisture and air from the duct grouted end cap anchorage system for non marine bridge applications. Recent Laboratory research findings and actual project applications are presented.
