By innovatively introducing the use of a steel girder at the middle of the main span and carefully engineering the critical details for the concrete-steel hybrid system, the design of this world record span box girder bridge was made possible technically and economically. It also shows that concrete-steel hybrid girder bridge system has the potential to competitive in a span range that is traditionally classified exclusively for other bridge systems such cable supported bridges or arch bridges.
