摘要

This study is based on the environmental impact assessment (EIA) and environmental management system (EMS) for an integrated cement factory which is to be established in the city of Burdur located in the central Anatolia region of Turkey. The EIA for the plant was carried out in compliance with the format suggested for cement factories by the Turkish Ministry of Environment. The boundaries of the area under assessment were determined by considering the possible interaction of the plant activities with the physical, biological, economical, and social environment. The waste that may be produced duringbuilding the plant and when it is operational was estimated, and its possible short and long term effects on the bio-physical and socio-economical environment were determined using computer models, and the experimental and statistical data obtained from the similar existing establishments. The necessary measures to eliminate the waste that may be produced at various stages, and the required purification techniques were determined.
