摘要

This paper introduces an approach to optimal design of environmental monitoring networks (EMN) and develops an environmental information system to visualize and analyze monitored data. The monitored data of EMN will be used to determine the similarity between monitoring stations then generates a dendrogram to combine, reduce or re-arrange monitoring stations for optimizing the air quality monitoring network. The monitored data then will be stored, analyzed and visualized by an environmental information system based on Web-GIS application with kvw-map software. The Hai Duong province, which is located in the North, and the Mekong delta in the South of Vietnam, were chosen for the illustration. The works proved that cluster analysis can be used for optimizing the EMN and Web-GIS can be used to visualize the environmental status as well as to manage the natural resources online.
