Appropriate group decision-making is considerably influenced by the structure of the group. To understand the group arrangement you must look beyond formal organizational charts using Social Network Analysis (SNA) to reveal the informal, often hidden, networks. Once the patterns of interaction within the group are understood, it is possible to intervene to reinforce/alter existing networks or create new patterns. The subsequent group structure may be better able to make decisions through this shaping.
