The phenomenological ageing theory of Azbel as well as many Monte Carlo simulations based on Penna's mutation accumulation model are reviewed. We emphasize our difficulties with sex: Why did nature invent it; are men useful for anything? These theories apply not only to humans but also to multicellular animals and plant, though not to bacteria, virus, or spin glasses.
