The application of the austempering treatment facilitates the achievement of highrnstrength, good ductility and toughness because of a predominantly bainitic microstructure inrnthe sintered steel. The final strength and ductility depend upon the relative amount of therndifferent phases, ferrite, pearlite and bainite present in the austempered steel. This studyrnexplains the influence of the process parameters carrying out the austempering treatment inrndifferent environments. Astaloy CrL and Astaloy Mo were pressed to a green density of 7.3rng/cm3 and sintered at 1120 ℃ and 1250 ℃ that ensures a decrease in the open porosity.rnThe application of the austempering treatment comprises austenitizing at 860 ℃ for 2hrnfollowed by quenching in different baths at 290 ℃. The discussion is based on therncomparison of the as-sintered state and the austempered results, establishing a relationshiprnbetween mechanical properties and the phases present in the final microstructures.
