The corrosion of metals represents a terrible waste of both natural resources andmoney, the failure of some stainless steel resulting from pitting corrosion is some timesconsidered a technological problem, consequently, much effort has been expended inattempting to understand and overcome the corrosion there fore, many stainless steel/environment combinations have been studied. The use of heterocyclic compounds asinhibitors is one of the most practical methods for protection against corrosion in acidicmedia.In continuation of our work on development of macrocyclic compounds as corrosioninhibitors we report in our study the corrosion inhibiting behaviour of organic compoundMethoxy-2-Allyl-4 Phenol (MAP) containing co-ordinating and conjugaison groups, at threeforms (natural, polymerised and chemically treated ) on the corrosion of stainless steel inphosphoric acid.This study focused on the comparison for corrosion inhibition proprieties of thesedifferent applications using potentiodynamic polarization, electrochemical impedancespectroscopy and SEM.The specimen was evaluated to determine change in his corrosion potential andresistance polarization; These MAP products have exhibited corrosion inhibition bymaintaining a high resistance polarization (low corrosion rate) in each application. Theseresults reveal that this compound is efficient inhibitor in all forms; the most inhibitionefficiency is obtained with polymerized form.To further evaluate the test data, the steel surfaces were analyzed using scanningelectron microscopy, SEM observations of surface treated concrete confirmed presence ofinhibitor on the steel surfaces.
