More sustainable polymer additives, such as colorants and heat stabilisers for PVC, are desired by society. Natural polyols and new classes of co-stabilisers like cyclic hydrazides or hydroxycoumarines have the potential to be used in heavy metal free PVC stabiliser packages. Natural and food grade colorants were investigated on their potential to be used in thermoplastics as PP and PVC. Anthraquinon based colorants were found to be most attractive.
