By Definition of the American Heritage Dictionary of the English Language, Fourth Edition of 2004, a wetting agent is a substance that reduces the surface tension of a liquid to spread across or penetrate more easily the surface of a solid.rnWhen talking about pigment dispersion into a plastic matrix, the wetting agents functionality becomes clear: to some extent, it must overcome the tendeny of most plastics, specifically the polyolefins and more specific the polypropylene to cover a (usually polar) pigment surface rather poorly.
