PTFE is widely used as an anti-dripping additive in flame-retardant polymer formulations in combination with flame retardant additives to achieve UL94 V-0 or similar standards required for usage electrical & electronic applications. Although efficient in drip suppression, high molecular weight PTFE is difficult to handle and to dose into an extruder on an industrial scale. This new development in PTFE-based anti-dripping additives combines high dispersion efficiency with excellent powder flow and handling characteristics. Premature fibrillation and agglomeration are eliminated. The micro-fibrils formed by the PTFE component during the final processing of the plastic part create a physical network frozen into the plastic matrix that prevents the formation of drips that propagate a fire.
