摘要

The authors' research about producing carbon steel by sintering belnds of iron -cast iron powders are presented. A method to determine the optimum time for the homogenization process of the powders mixture was developed. The compressibility of the iron - cast iron powders mixture decreases with increasing of the cast iron quantity. The sintering experiments were performed in endogas, N_2-H_2-CH_4 and vacuum atmosphere. The dimensional shrinkage and sintered density as a function of the sintering conditions are presented. Compacts sintered in endogas atmosphere with a carbon potential of 0.4 show a structure with lamellar pearlite and ferritic grains corresponding to 0.4 (wt)%C. For samples with initial content of 0.8 (wt) %C sintered in endogas atmosphere only one homogeneous structure of pearlite with a fine ferrite network was obtained. Hardness measurements and pin on disc tests were performed too.
