摘要

A novel image coding scheme by using two-channel complexvaluedrnfilter banks (CFBs) is proposed in this paper. Uprnto now, most of the image coding schemes have used realvaluedrnfilter banks (RFBs). In other words, there are no efficientrnimage coding framework using CFBs since the amountrnof samples transformed by CFBs is twice as much as that ofrnRFBs. However, CFBs are expected to have better frequencyrncharacteristics than RFBs, since CFBs have more design parametersrnthan that of RFBs. Thus, if the problem is solved,rnCFBs could be efficient for image coding. In this paper, arnnew algorithm which can preserve the amount of informationrnwhen CFBs are applied to image coding is introduced. It isrnshown that the proposed image coding scheme using CFBsrnis superior to conventional real-valued wavelet-based imagerncoding.
