With the raw material of bagasse fiber, 3-chloro-2-hydroxypropyl triply co-hydrolyzed ammonium chloride (CHPTMA) and microwave heating were used to synthesize bagasse cationic cellulose. The synthesis conditions were as follows: the mass ratio of etherifying agent and cellulose 0.45, mole ratio of etherifying agent and NaOH 56.60, the heating time 9 mins and the power of microwave 400 W, the water content 60% in this synthesis system. The synthesized material was a kind of bagasse cationic cellulose, with the substitution degree of 0.19 and the Zeta potential 25.6 mV. The effects on enhancing, sizing for paper pulp and flocculation to papermaking wastewater which attribute by bagasse cationic cellulose were discussed.
