摘要

It is argued that cooperation and division of labour are the asset of and means for enhancing innovation in information-intensive organizations; how will this team work be organized? The cooperative approach implies a more distinct division of labour within the staff; the tasks of producing, providing and disseminating knowledge are split up and treated as more detailed operations and processes; these operations and processes are then assigned to a variety of information specialists whose concrete tasks are largely to be defined by themselves in future. The information specialists of this new category become more and more professional within their respective spheres of activity while at the same time becoming more productive and effective because they enhance their skills. Naturally they will sharpen their awareness of how to arrange their work more efficiently and how to make optimum use of infor-maton technology (IT) as well as how to contribute to the innovation of IT. The implications of this development to domains (subject disciplines), such as medicine, are drastic: they will be facing a transformation process and in the end practitioners within traditional professions like pharmacy, medicine or economics will be replaced by information specialists who adopt the pharmaceutical, medical and economical approach. But the information specialists will also be able to tear themselves away from a narrow subject discipline orientation and be capable of moving flexibly across existing disciplinary boundaries and so to say pursue any kind of approach to a certain area. And in due time and when they have become important players in the research process they will naturally organize scientific data according to the principles of information (processes). This implies that findings in one field will lend themselves to easy retrieval and application to other fields and disciplines.
