摘要

The design and implementation of a multimedia database system architecture is one of the key issues in database research. In this paper, an architecture design of a multimedia database system is presented. This system provides overall functions for storing and manipulating multimedia resource data, editing and integrating those data, and distributing the intergrated data as a new information in a distributed processing environment.rnThe basic facilities of this system are to extract data items from databases, edit and integrate those data items according to users' requests, and widely distribute the integrated data items as the new information. The main function of this system is to integrate fragmentary information stored in multimedia databases into the new meaningful information. To implement those facilities, in addition to the conventional database functions, the system provides functions for creating new information by integrating existing resource data.
