One of the most attractive applications of FRP materials is their use as confining devices for concrete columns, which may result in remarkable increases of strength and ductility as indicated by numerous published experimental results. Aim of this study was to investigate the effect of two variables, namely, cylinder size and resin type, on the behaviour of the confined cylinders. Twenty-six specimens were instrumented with strain gages and LVDTs and tested in compression until failure. Results are presented and discussed in this paper, including a comparison with expected theoretical results.
