摘要

Homogeneous thick silica coatings were prepared onto metals substrates by Electrophoretic Deposition (EPD) using particulate sols. The synthesis of sol was performed mixing tetraethoxysilane and methyltriethoxysilane under basic catalysis. In order to establish the condition of the synthesis and EPD process, the stability of the sol was studied under different conditions (temperature, atmosphere and concentration).The protective behaviour and the corrosion kinetic was studied on uncoated and coated substrates in 3.56 wt% NaCl and in 1N HCl using potentiodynamic techniques. The results showed a decrease in the pasivation current densities, which indicates the suitability of these coatings in metal protection.
