Recently, The electrodes modified with a lot of dyes as mediators or promoters for the determination of biomolecules and the study of electron transfer process in re.dox of biomolecules have attracted considerable atten-tion[l,2]. However, up to now very little study at a microelectrode has been reported because of its high mass transport rate which makes the catalytic efficiency of homogeneous or heterogeneous reactions decline greatly[3,4]. In the work, the surface of carbon fiber microelectrode was electrochemically oxidized, the process formed many negative charge functional groups. By the interaction between dye with positive charge and surface group, the nile blue A modified microelectrode was fabricated. Although the properties of nile blue A modified glassy carbon and silver electrodes have been studied, and the modified electrodes can catalyze the oxidation of NADH, to our knowledge, there has been no report of nile blue A modified carbon fiber microcylinder electrode and the electrocatalysis of nile blue A to the reduction of hemoglobin. The modified electrode in the work showed significant electrocatalytic activity for the reduction of hemoglobin in week acid media.
