IEC/TC87 is going to vote the International Standard "Ultrasonics: Focusing Transducers: Definitions and Measurement methods for the Transmitted fields" (IEC-61828/196/FDIS). This International Standard relates to Focusing Ultrasonic Transducers operating in the frequency range appropriate to medical ultrasound (0.5 - 40 MHz) for both therapeutic and diagnostic applications. In order to evaluate the performances of transducers and to promote the development of the ultrasonic devices and equipments. Based on the IEC - 61828/196/FDIS, we discussed the main characteristics of focusing transducers of HIFU and their measuring method. Also our several ultrasonic focusing transducers of HIFU are presented in this paper.
