To our knowledge, the significant data presented in this paper reveal for the first time that human breast cancer can be completely ablated with extracorporeal FUS treatment and that the main histological change is coagulative necrosis, followed by the processes of tissue resorption and granulation tissue formation. The 3-year clinical experience suggested that FUS is a safe, effective and feasible modality for the treatment of human breast cancer. Although early results of this noninvasive technique are encouraging and exiting, longer follow-up and large-scale clinical trials are necessary to fully determine the true efficacy of this breast conservation modality.
