摘要

This paper treats a very fundamental pump planning of a suit of huge raw water pumps, which includes the determination of the owner of the pumps, their positioning and the method of suction in some characteristic way, to lead trie condition to be the most favorable for Tokyo Waterworks, assuring the free hand on their operation to the latter. The pumps receive river water from the hand of Japan Water Resources Development Public Corporation, and transmit it as raw water to two purification plants, Asaka (new) and Higashi-Murayama (existing), while are playing important role to connect two river systems and flexible accommodation of water within the network for the city of Tokyo. As whole Plant at Asaka is the biggest one in Tokyo, the pumps and their appurtenances are of record gigantic scales on sophisticated technology at the time of 1950-60's, some of their aspects are also introduced as possible.
