摘要

Recently a number of papers have used the effect of leakage on certain frequency components of a transient signal for the detection of leaks in pipeline systems. These papers typically use a steady-state approximation of the unsteady frictional behaviour. The effect of steady-state friction is frequency-independent. However, it is widely known that the effects of unsteady friction are frequency-dependent and thus affect the leak detection methods. In this paper, the analysis of flow in the frequency domain provides an insight into the behaviour of unsteady friction for different frequency transients. An analytic solution for the inclusion of unsteady friction effects in the frequency-domain is presented herein. Two weighting function unsteady friction models are considered ― one for laminar flow and the other for smooth pipe turbulent flow.
