Experimental study on the performances prediction methodologies of pumps and their systems

According to the hydraulics theory, analyses of hydraulic losses in pumps and their systems have been conducted. It is put forward that affecting efficiency modification from model to prototype is the losses which are relative to Reynolds numbers, and local losses have no any scale-effect. Four new prediction formulas of pumps and their systems' performances have been formulated. Two axial-flow impellers, the specific speeds of which are 1250 and 1350 separately, are used to three input/output passages (standard testing pipes, tubular and dual-directions) for experiments. 31 experimental data are measured and recorded, and the regressing calculation of the relation between the index in the efficiency prediction formula and ratio of the speeds has been made. The results show that the index will reduce when the ratio increases. Then, by use of the new formulas, the performances have been forecasted. The forecasting results show the precision is higher than that of other methods, and the optimal efficiency point has a move to smaller discharge and the most efficiency has a little decrease compared with other methods.
