The Torotrak IVT (Infinitely Variable Transmission) uses a torque controlled full toroidal traction drive in a two-regime configuration. Low regime is a split-power system and provides forward and reverse drive. High regime extends the ratio of the transmission in forward drive. The change from low regime to high regime is achieved with the aid of two wet plate clutches that are synchronised during a regime change.
