A Crystallizer (Cooling Batch Reactor) with Different Type of Impellers

摘要

The crystallization in a cooling batch process has been carried out using Maxblend impeller and 2 stage of flat paddles and have has measured the particle size distribution. Comparing with the particle size distribution created by these impellers, the sharp crystal size distribution could be obtained with the Maxblend. Especially, the operative range for the Maxblend was wide, so the Maxblend can be operated at lower impeller speed than another impeller system. This is due to that the flow by Maxbelnd can be kept whole space of the tank while the flow energy is dissipated ineffectively in case of the flat paddle, and it leads to large particle size because of achieving uniform crystal suspension and keeping capacity of heat transfer even at low impeller speed. Large advantage was that the adhesion could be decreased due to keeping flow field.
