The structure of the interface between dense and dilute phases in fast fluidization has been characterised by measurement of radial profiles of solids flux and volume fraction. A riser of 0.09 m i. d. and 7.2 m height was used. The radial profiles of solids flux and volume fraction were measured using a non-isokinetic sampling probe and electrical capacitance tomography, respectively. The solids used were sand with a Sauter mean diameter of 100 #mu#m and particle density of 2650 kg/m~3. It was found that the dense-dilute interface has a core-annulus structure with the thickness of the denser region nearthe wall decreasing with height, and that the radial flux profile is more "parabolic" in the upper part than in the lower part of the interface.
