Fluidization characteristics of fine alumina powder and a binderless granulation, as one of its application, were investigated in a flat-bottom bed and a tapered bed, respectively. Both the measurement of bed pressure drop and the observation of spatial distribution of bubbles, gas channels, cracks and large voids in bed reveal the existence of three types of fluidization pattern.
