In nodeling convective heat transfer at the wall of a circulating fluidized bed (CFB), the contribution from the bed material can accounted for separately. The bed material near the wall of a CFB typically flows downward in dense swarms known as clusters, and the heat transfer from these clusters can be described by an unsteady, one-dimensional conduction mechanism.
