The effect of the radial injection position of the jets of reactant fluid on their intermixing with the gas-catalyst stream in a riser reactor is examined experimentally. The results show that injection close to the wall provides for much flatter radial profiles of solid fraction and axial solid velocity and much less complex solid acceleration-deceleration patterns than does axial injection.
