An internally circulating fluidized bed system (ICFB) has been developed for catalytic cracking. This work describes construction and operation of a cold model and a small pilot plant scaled hot unit under consideraton of the relevant similarity rules. Data from experiments performed in the cold model are then compared with data obtained from experiments in the hot nuit. An efficient method was developed to determine the bed material circulation rate based on simple pressure and also for any other reaction/regeneration rate based on simple pressure and also for any other reaction/regeneration system based on this type of internally circulating fluidized bed.
