The dynamic flow behavior in a riser of a circulating fluidized bed (CFB) loop under transient solids circulating conditions is experimentally examined in this study. The transient solids flow rates are meassured based on the velocity of solids flow in the standpipe under L-valve aeration. The instantaneous signals of pressure drop in various locations of the CFB loop and the instantaneous solids holdup in the riser are obtained to illustrate the dynamic response of the flow behavior in the riser to the transient solids flow in the standpipe.
