Fast catalytic reactions in circulating fluidized beds such as catalytic cracking require the optimisation of gas-catalyst contact. Cumene cracking is proposed as a model reaction to evaluate the gas-catalyst contact in conditions close to the circulating bed and applied to a downflow reactor, where the hydrodynamic is well controled.
